Ernest Mbanefo is a Board member and trustee of the Rev. Tony Akinyemi Scholarship Foundation (rTSF), where he provides strategic guidance rooted in faith, vision, and a lifelong commitment to education as a tool for transformation. His leadership reflects a deep belief in building systems that empower under-served individuals to rise and flourish.
With over 37 years of experience in engineering, infrastructure, and energy, Ernest led Nigeria’s first locally executed midstream gas transmission project and continues to drive investments in oil & gas, real estate, and cooperative finance. His work spans private enterprise, faith-based governance, and social innovation.
He currently serves as Executive Director of the TEN Foundation, promoting reinvention and purposeful aging for seniors; and chairs My Neighbour’s Keeper, a mental wellness initiative focused on emotional and community healing. He also advocates for holistic health through the Rapha Institute for Healthy Living.
Ernest is widely respected for his clarity, accountability, and values-based leadership. His board roles across both corporate and nonprofit sectors reflect a commitment to sustainable impact, dignity, and stewardship.
Ernest studied Civil Engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and later earned an MBA from the University of Calabar. He is also a graduate of the Haggai Leadership Institute in Maui, USA, and has undertaken extensive professional training in project management, gas distribution, investment analysis, health and safety, and leadership development. This blend of technical, managerial, and leadership education equips him to bridge strategy with impact in every sphere of his work.
Ernest is joyfully married to Nneka, with children and grandchildren. He is passionate about mentoring, legacy-building, and enabling others to lead lives of purpose
